Oil is a hydrocarbon. Plasic is a hydrocarbon. So do I REALLY need to wash out the oil bottle before recycling it?

To me common sense would say no, but I do not have a chemistry background. I think I would take the common sense rationalization and not want to risk getting the oil in my sink as you might end up doing double cleaning.
