A Real Conversation
One of Jason’s classmates invited us over to have dinner with his family on Chinese New Year. As a way of saying thank you we brought back a little gift of candy from Hualian. This is the conversation I had with the classmate’s wife, Meng-li, when I brought the candy.

Hualian Winter Break Day 2: The Beach
We left Taroko Gorge and headed to the seashore to finally fulfill our promises to Ellie. But we had to eat lunch first. Xi-pan held onto her little sand pail all through lunch. Ellie ate, but she did it quickly, then hopped down and proclaimed, “Ellie all done. Now go beach!”

Hualian Winter Break Day 1
Three days after Chinese New Year we hopped on the train and headed south and east toward Hualian. The train ride was four hours. Our first stop (err, after a quick lunch at McD’s) was the beautiful Far Glory Hotel.
