A Real Conversation

I’m getting Ellie dressed for the day.

Kristie: Ellie, do you want to wear your tutu? (Ellie’s wearing her “Big Girl”* shirt and I think the tutu looks cute with it.)

Ellie: Tooo-toooooo?

Kristie: Yeah! This one…(gets the tutu out of Ellie’s closet)..Here, can you put this on by yourself?

(Ellie puts on the tutu.)

Kristie: You did it! Go and show Daddy.

Ellie: (runs into the main room and stands beside Jason) Look.

Jason: Ooh! Look at that pretty tutu! (Ellie does a little twist/twirl) And it matches so nicely! (see pic below)

Ellie: No. (points first to her shirt and then the tutu) That. Is brown. That. Is pink. (and runs off to play)

Jason: I see.

Kristie: Well you can’t argue with that.

*Ellie’s Nana (Jason’s mom) sent this shirt for her. When we told her what it says, she heard “Big Girl” instead of “Big sister”. It’s her favorite shirt.
